Debbie Weimert is an internationally known, award winning doll and figurative artist. She has been published in numerous magazines. Her artistic growth into figurative sculpting started in 2003 when she became interested in One of a Kind (OOAK) artdolls. This Maryland artist is well aware of her eclectic muse and overactive imagination. The daydreaming that used to get her into trouble as a child, now is the vehicle that brings forth the magical creatures that she sculpts. She has a fantastic gift of bringing those daydreams to life. She now also brings dragons and other fantasy creatures to life through acrylic paint pouring.

This is what the artist has to say of herself:

“How do you explain who you are without looking into the depths of your soul from whence your dreams come? A daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an aunt, I am all of these and more. A Christian, a doll collector, a baseball fan, an artist, I am all of these and more. I am me. I am a one of a kind. There is no one else exactly like me.

How precious are the thoughts of God that I find hidden everywhere. It is on those thoughts that my imagination thrives. It is those thoughts that make me who I am and bring my art work to life. It is the fantastic imagination that He has blessed me with. How can I not create? I create to honor The Creator.”

His hands are sculpted out of Cosclay polymer clay which makes them flexible and not easily broken. He has a strong wire armature in his body. He can be gently posed but prefers to stay in this position. His clothes have been hand sewn just for him. The pants are vintage velveteen that have been died darker with acrylic paint. His tie is silk and has a golden crown charm as a tie pin. He wears a vintage straw hat has been painted to match his pants. He has a leather belt and cute saddle shoes. He also wears a leather bracelet. He holds his walking stick. The horsehead on this cane is what I think is Bakelite. I found it at a flea market and do not know what it was originally. But it just seemed to go with Humpty Dumpty when I put the wooden dowel in it. He stands on a wooden base.

Henrietta Hoarder a OOAK BJD by DayDreamerDebbie

Henrietta Hoarder is a OOAK BJD by Debbie Weimert

Henrietta Hoarder

Henrietta belongs to the Hoarder clan in the elfin world. They roam the forests, beaches and human domains looking for discarded things. Everything is still useful to them sooner or later. They make their own clothing with scraps of fabric that they find. They love natural things like stones, rocks, shells, wood, and grasses. They forage leftovers from Humans and Fairies.

Henrietta is on her way back home from her day of rummaging. It was a good day for her.

Henrietta always carries her Fairy catcher. Inside is a homemade fairy that she hopes will lure the fairies into the basket. Today she did not catch a fairy but she did find an empty fairy nest and 2 bottles of fairy potions (Earth and Sky).

Her findings for the day: fabric scraps, rocks, wood, shells, acorns, old mini book (“A Child’s Garden of Verse” by Robert Louis Stevenson), pottery, corn cob pipe, paint brush, ceramic doll, pink plastic cup, mini bear, scissors, wooden cross, small hammer, small scoop, 2-prong fork, handmade doll size drum, clothes pin, small spoon, marbles, ring, keys, tiny shovel, fairy potions, and fairy nest.

Henrietta is 12 inches tall. She is sculpted from a mix of beige and white Premo polymer clay. She is a Ball Jointed Doll. Her green eyes are glass. Her hair is gray wool. Her clothing is handmade and made to look hand stitched by Henrietta. Skirt is from vintage fabric. Shoes are leather. Fur scarf. Her vignette includes all things listed above plus: Wooden walking stick, wooden horse and wagon, baskets made by the Ati tribe in the Philippines. Woolen fairy was made by my granddaughter Avi.
